How Override works
When the urge is active, don’t negotiate with it. Flee the pattern.
Override is built for the moment motivation is weakest. It creates temporary friction, redirects you into physical action, and helps you get enough distance from the urge to make a deliberate choice.
The problem
An active urge is a bad time to sit still and debate yourself.
In the middle of an urge, the easiest path usually wins: stay where you are, open the same app, follow the same routine, repeat the same behavior. Override is designed to break that automatic path by changing what you can access and what you are doing in the moment.
Flee, don’t negotiate
Distance beats willpower when the loop is already running.
Override does not ask you to sit in the same environment and simply think harder about resisting. It helps create a clean break from the behavior loop by temporarily shielding selected apps and moving your attention into a guided physical reset.
The intervention
A guided interruption between the urge and the automatic route.
1. Create friction immediately
Selected apps can be temporarily shielded during an intervention so the easiest route is no longer instantly available.
2. Get physically refocused
Override directs you away from passive scrolling and into required real-world activity designed to shift your attention and context.
3. Use Smart Vision privately
On supported devices, on-device computer vision can verify certain refocusing activities without sending camera content to Override servers.
4. Return with distance
The goal is not to prove you never felt the urge. It is to make the decision from a different state than the one in which the urge started.
Smart Vision
The reset is not just something you tap through.
Override can use privacy-preserving, on-device vision capabilities to confirm certain real-world refocusing actions during an intervention. That makes the reset active instead of passive: you are being redirected into deliberate behavior away from the urge, not simply reading advice on another screen.
Camera-based processing is designed to stay on the device. Override does not need to upload your camera feed or build a profile of what you scan in order to support these features.
Why this is different
Blockers remove access. Override interrupts the state.
Traditional blockers can make access harder, but urges often happen after the mind has already entered an automatic, immediate-gratification state. Override is designed for that moment: create friction, force a context shift, and give you a reliable escape path before the urge turns into action.
Set up while calm
Prepare before the high-risk moment arrives.
Choose the apps you want available for temporary shielding and personalize the parts of Override that support your reset. Once setup is complete, the intervention is ready when you need it.
Private by design
Sensitive recovery data stays on your device.
Override does not require a public profile. Core intervention data is stored locally, subject to the permissions and system controls available on your device. Smart Vision processing is designed to happen on-device rather than by uploading camera content to a remote server.
Be ready before willpower disappears.
Override is built for urge you — the version of you that needs an escape path, not another lecture.
