Privacy Policy

Effective: June 30, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Override ("we," "our," or "us") handles your information when you use the Override mobile application and website at override-app.org (collectively, the "Service").

Override is used during sensitive personal moments. Privacy is not an afterthought — it is the core design principle of this app. Override is built to be local-first: your personal data stays on your device. We do not operate accounts, we do not run a backend server that stores your activity, and we do not sell your data.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

Override stores the following information locally on your device only. This data is not transmitted to us or to any server, and we cannot access it:

  • Your personal reasons: The reasons you enter during onboarding to remind yourself why you started.
  • Your clean timer and commitment data: Your start time and daily commitment status, used to display your progress.
  • Your personalized intervention content: The personal phrase you write as the last step of an intervention.
  • Your locally configured reset data: If you register a locally configured reset code, the code's value is stored locally and used only to verify a match during a mission. It is never uploaded.
  • Your app settings and intervention state: Mission settings, shield configuration, and the status of any active intervention.

All of this data is stored in your device's local storage. It is removed when you delete the app or use the in-app reset option.

3. No Account, No Sign-In, No Tracking

The Override mobile app does not require or offer account creation. There is no app sign-in, no email collection, no user profile, and no cloud sync. The mobile app does not use analytics SDKs, advertising identifiers, or advertising trackers. Override's applicable app-store privacy disclosures reflect the app's local-first design. Website analytics, described separately below, operate only on the public website and cannot access or observe anything inside the Override mobile app.

4. Website Analytics

Your activity inside the Override app remains private by design. Google Analytics on the public website cannot access, read, infer, or track your selected shielded apps, intervention activity, mission activity, personal reasons, personalized intervention content, clean timer, commitment data, camera processing, motion data, app settings, or any other information stored inside the Override mobile app.

With your consent, the public website at override-app.org uses Google Analytics 4 ("Google Analytics") to understand how visitors find and use website pages and how the website performs. Website analytics may process information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from an internet connection, browser and device type, referral source, interaction events, and the time of a visit.

Google Analytics is not installed in the Override mobile app. Website analytics are kept technically separate from the app and cannot see app activity or locally stored recovery information. We do not send names, email addresses, personal reasons, recovery history, or app intervention information to Google Analytics.

Website analytics are optional. The analytics tag is not loaded unless you accept website analytics through the consent notice. If you decline, Google Analytics remains unloaded. You can change your choice using the “Cookie settings” control in the website footer.

Google processes website analytics information under Google's own terms and privacy documentation. We use this information to evaluate website performance, improve educational pages, understand search traffic, and evaluate website performance. We do not use it to build advertising audiences or to track activity inside the app.

5. App Shielding and Platform Controls

On supported platforms, Override may use platform-provided app-control and device-wellbeing features to shield apps you select during an intervention you start yourself. Your app selection is handled through platform-provided controls and stored on-device using system-managed identifiers or tokens that Override cannot use to inspect your private app activity. Override never sees which specific apps you choose — it only receives a count from the system. No app-usage data is collected, monitored, or uploaded. Shielding occurs only during interventions you initiate and is removed when the intervention completes or its safety window expires. The exact permissions and system APIs used may differ by platform.

6. Camera

Some guided reset features may use your device camera. Camera-based processing is designed to happen on-device using platform-provided capabilities. Camera frames are processed in real time and are never stored, saved, or uploaded. No images leave your device.

7. Motion & Fitness

Some guided reset features may use your device's motion or activity sensors. This motion data is read on-device only, used solely to complete the mission in the moment, and is never stored or transmitted.

8. Purchases

If you subscribe to Override Premium, your subscription is processed by the app store used for the purchase and may be managed using RevenueCat for subscription status and entitlement validation. Your app store provider processes payment information — we never see or store your payment card details. RevenueCat processes a non-personal, app-generated identifier and your transaction/subscription status in order to determine whether your access is active. We do not collect your name, email, or payment details through this process. RevenueCat's handling of this data is governed by their privacy policy.

9. Third-Party Services

Override relies on the following services in a limited capacity:

  • App stores — processes all purchases and subscriptions, governed by your app store provider's privacy policy.
  • Google Analytics — with website visitor consent, measures public website usage and website interaction events; it is not included in the mobile app and cannot access app data.
  • RevenueCat — manages subscription status and entitlements (revenuecat.com/privacy).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties. Override has no advertising partners.

10. Your Control Over Your Data

Because your data lives only on your device, you are in direct control of it:

  • Reset: You can clear your saved Override data at any time from within the app's settings.
  • Delete: Deleting the Override app removes all locally stored data from your device.
  • Subscriptions: You can manage or cancel your subscription through the app store account used for the purchase.

If you have questions about your data, contact us at [email protected].

11. Children's Privacy

Override is rated for general audiences and is not directed at children under the age of 13. Because Override does not collect personal information, no personal data from any user — including children — is gathered by us. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected].

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. If changes are material, we will reflect them here and in the app. Continued use of Override after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
