This guide focuses on practical steps you can prepare while calm and use when the pattern becomes difficult to interrupt.

Name the moment

Say plainly: “This is an urge, not an instruction.” Naming it creates a small gap between the feeling and the action.

Change position immediately

Stand up, leave the room, turn on a light, or move the device. A physical context change interrupts more of the pattern than trying to think differently while staying in the same position.

Block the familiar route

Add friction to the first apps, sites, or behaviors that normally lead toward porn. Do not wait until you are already deep inside the sequence.

Complete one structured task

Pick a task with a clear endpoint: a short walk, a cold rinse, a QR scan, a set of push-ups, or an intervention mission. Open-ended distraction is easier to abandon.

Let intensity change

Do not demand that the urge disappear instantly. The goal is to avoid feeding it while the peak changes. Every minute without reinforcing the loop makes the next choice easier.

Where Override fits

Override is built for the active moment. It temporarily shields selected apps and guides you through an active guided reset. It is not a replacement for therapy or deeper recovery work.

Put the interruption in place before the urge.

Set up your shielded apps, missions, and personal phrase while you are calm.
