Porn blockers do not fail because blocking is useless. They fail when blocking is expected to do the entire job.
Blocking still matters
A blocker can remove immediate access, interrupt cues, and make an automatic route harder to complete. That friction is useful.
The problem is the word alone
An active urge does not vanish simply because one route is closed. The person may search for another device, disable settings, switch apps, or continue feeding the thought loop.
A barrier needs a next action
The strongest setup pairs blocking with a predefined response: leave the room, contact someone, complete a task, or start an intervention. The blocker creates the gap; the action determines what fills it.
Blocking does not retrain the moment by itself
Long-term change requires repeatedly practicing a different response to the same cue. A barrier can prevent behavior, but an active competing routine helps build a new pattern.
Use blocking as one layer
Combine reliable friction, environmental design, active interruption, personal reasons, and deeper support. Blocking is infrastructure, not the entire recovery plan.
Where Override fits
Override is built for the active moment. It temporarily shields selected apps and guides you through an active guided reset. It is not a replacement for therapy or deeper recovery work.
Put the interruption in place before the urge.
Set up your shielded apps, missions, and personal phrase while you are calm.
